-About the design
The Tale of the Heike: Volume 11, NasunoYoichi (Yoichi)
Take the kabura (arrowheads) and joint them, pull back a few yotsu and release them with a hail of bullets. The bow was strong and the kabura (turnip-shaped arrowhead) was shot with a single thrust from a fan. The fan was tossed about in the spring breeze, and then it was tossed into the sea. The fan, all red and shining in the setting sun, floated and sank on the white waves, and the Heike on the sea tapped the end of their boat, and the Genji on land tapped their quiver, making a noise.
-Episodes in the making of this piece (MORINORI)
This time, the second half of the Tale of the Heike is divided into two parts, PART 1 and PART 2. The second design is painted in the lower right corner, suggesting the scene leading to the provocative battle of Yumi-nagashi.
The last sentence, “On the sea, the Heike ship is tapped and felt, while on land, the Genji quiver is tapped and groaned. I shudder to think of Yoshitsune staring at the excitement of the Genpei as it leads to the bow stream in the next story.
